Strategy
The Greater London Authority can:
Ensure that design is integral to economic development proposals for all aspects of London, whether central business areas, regeneration gateways or disadvantaged communities
Make quality one of the key principles of economic development and regeneration
Assess the regeneration requirements of specific localities within the Greater London area using a robust and widely applied method of assessing urban quality characteristics
Produce detailed planning and design guidance, linked to funding, specific to each locality identified for support.
Research and publish guidance on how to utilise design effectively for developing on brownfield land, recycling existing buildings and providing for commercial spaces of the future
Research and publish evidence to show the value of design to the development process
Provide advice to developers on dealing with the risks that arise through the assessment, treatment and after-care of contaminated sites
